The Best Jewelry at the 2022 Emmys

Diamond chokers and colorful designs sparkled on elegant looks

September 13, 2022—Every once in a while, jewels on big awards show red carpets fall easily and obviously into trends. The 2022 Emmys was one of those times.

Diamond chokers with strapless gowns came down the carpet on multiple stars with Zendaya leading the charge in her dazzling pairing of Bulgari and Valentino. While the combo might sound repetitive, it really wasn’t. Each star looked elegant. The old Hollywood vibe, that has been recreated on the carpet for decades, felt fresh the way these ladies styled it.

The other trend was color. I know that sounds a little vague. I honestly can’t stand it when people say “color” is a trend because it’s not too specific. The specificity in these looks once again came with the styling. Stars paired colorful jewels with monochromatic ensembles that acted as frames for the designs.

The great Lizzo kind of reversed the idea with her mega tulle gown and diamond earrings and so did Oprah, but we had to include them in the story, because, well, obviously.

Zendaya paired a Bulgari High Jewelry necklace centering on a 4.45-carat oval diamond and diamond studs with a strapless Valentino ballgown.

Elle Fanning paired a gown created by The Great costume designer, Sharon Long, with vintage jewels from Neil Lane Couture.

Hacks star Hannah Einbinder wore a strapless gown with a 1990s vintage diamond necklace and diamond studs from Briony Raymond.

Reese Witherspoon wore a navy sequin Armani Privé gown with a Tiffany necklace composed of aquamarines, blue zircons and diamonds set in platinum and diamond studs.

Sandra Oh color coordinated her purple sequin suit with Cathy Waterman Morganite and platinum Long Bamboo Earrings and a kunzite, diamond and platinum ring.

Selena Gomes wore a beaded white Celine gown with Boucheron Verrière pendant earrings, from the Paris, Vu du 26 High Jewelry collection. The emerald bead, glass and diamond earrings are set in white gold and titanium.

Sarah Snook paired a lavender gown with a one-of-a-kind Irene Neuwirth Gemmy Gem Double Drop Necklace set with emerald, tourmaline, beryl, aquamarine, morganite and kunzite.

Lizzo paired her red tulle gown with 40-carat diamond earrings by Lorraine Schwartz.

Oprah gave the first award of the evening wearing a white tuxedo gown and diamond pendant earrings.
