There is no mistaking it. John Hardy’s new ad campaign is channeling Wonder Woman. Forearms covered in jewelry that looks something like armor. It’s pure superhero style. The women in the ads—Oscar winner Julianne Moore and activist and model Adwoa Aboah—would fit right in on Paradise Island with the Amazons.

Shot by Luigi Murenu and Iango Henzi, the “Made for Legends” campaign is intended to celebrate women’s strength. I would say it succeeds. It is also in tune with the spirit of empowering jewelry that has swept into fashion this year from the bold cuffs to the powerful pieces made for breast cancer awareness. The ads echo the feminist movement of those who are ready to go into battle to fight for equal rights and women’s issues.
