January 5, 2025—I’ve long had a theory that the best actors take as many risks on the red carpet as they do in their performances. Of course, this is not always the case. There are incredibly fashionable stars without even one golden statuette and those who don’t give a hoot about style who have a trophy room full of awards. But at this year’s Golden Globes, my theory held up, as many of the heavyweights in the room showed off their personalities with jewelry.
In a sea of diamond rivières and beautiful, if conventional, styles, there were some exceptional statement necklaces. And, after way too long an absence, chandelier earrings made a comeback that I hope will last through Award Season and beyond.
The color of Zendaya’s dress contrasted beautifully with the 31 carat Paraiba tourmaline in her 48 carat diamond Bulgari necklace.
It’s also quite possible that Zendaya debuted an engagement ring from her long-time love, Tom Holland.
What seems to be an east-west set cushion shape diamond ring on the third finger of her left hand is not Bulgari. And she does not usually adorn that finger most women reserve for an engagement ring. The style looks as though it could be Jessica McCormack.
Zoe Saldaña wore Cartier’s Melis necklace which took over 738 hours to create.
The name of the yellow and white diamond necklace means honey and the motif is a honeycomb. A bee composed of a 2.64 carat Fancy Intense yellow briolette-cut diamond hangs from the bottom.
Selena Gomez wore a platinum and diamond necklace from Tiffany’s Blue Book Collection.
The multi-talented actress also had on her marquise shape diamond engagement ring from Benny Blanco.
Elle Fanning went wild with the animal print motif running through fashion. She echoed the pattern on her dress with a Panthère de Cartier gold necklace.
The Complete Unknown actor also had on a matching hair pick, ring and bracelet which cannot be seen in the photo above.

The gold and black lacquer jewel features small tsavorite garnets and onyx.
Shōgun actress and Golden Globe winner, Anna Sawai, wore a bold gold Cartier Collection necklace (part of the archives) which comes from the La Création collection launched in 1996.
According to the French House, the jewel is often referred to as the Honeymoon necklace.
A detail of the Cartier necklace on Anna Sawai shows the diamonds between the gold motifs.
The jewel is reversible with white gold on one side and yellow gold and the other.
Anya Taylor-Joy matched the peachy tones of her dress, hair and complexion with the large crystal opals and platinum setting of a Tiffany necklace.
Over 64-carats of diamonds light opals in the giant jewel.
The jewel worn by Anya Taylor-Joy is from the 2024 Tiffany Blue Book Collection.
Big hair is back in a big way. Nicole Kidman showed just how well hair worn up and down can look with a great big Boucheron earring.
Kidman’s Boucheron jewels were the Lierre de Paris High Jewelry collection.
They are set with diamonds and tanzanites.
Margaret Qualley was another actress who had done big hair worn half-up and down. She bedazzled her do with a diamond piece from Chanel.
The actress also wore diamond earrings from Chanel inspired by the House’s famous tweed jackets.
I like to imagine that Isabella Rossellini just pulled these India style chandelier earrings out of her jewel box and put them on for the evening, but it is possible she borrowed the designs.
The jewels highlighted her ensemble and the joy she was clearly feeling.
Zoë Kravitz joined the chandelier earring revival in a pair of bespoke earrings from Jessica McCormack.

The jewels feature a Georgian style cut-down setting in blackened white and yellow gold.
Adrien Brody has been consistently wearing brooches by the imaginative designer Elsa Jin for a couple of years and continued the pattern at the Globes.
A detail of the Elsa Jin jewel on Brody shows what appears to be a black South Sea pearl, black and white diamonds and possibly emeralds.
