Prounis Has Gone Into The Gucci Summer Vault
The designer’s work is part of a special online offering from the Italian label
May 26, 2023—Why not make a splash as we head into the unofficial start of summer this Memorial Day Weekend and dive into the Gucci Vault. The online store from the Italian label is filled with a curation of things Gucci loves from different labels. Among the beachwear from Agua and minaudière clutch bags by Judith Leiber Couture and other designs, there are jewels from Prounis.
A cult favorite New York City based label by Jean Prounis, these jewels are not your standard summer fare of hoops, bangles and beads. They are hand crafted creations that show off Jean’s talents as a goldsmith and her flare for employing ancient techniques.
The alloy of 22K gold is the same mix of the sunshine metal used by the ancients. Details on the designs like granulation and an S-shaped clasp also have roots that go back to the classical world.
The silhouettes on her dreamy gold and emerald Bruco hoop earrings would fit right in with the jewels in the Greek and Roman galleries at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The charm bracelet is like something from a red figure vase come to life.
