Classics with a twist are at the top of everyone’s wish list right now. The look has always been the core of Monica Rich Kosann’s collection. Lockets in all shapes and sizes and wide variety of charms for bracelets are the signatures of the New York based jewelry designer’s work.
Everything Monica makes looks to the past for inspiration and the present for a touch of contemporary styling. One of her coolest pieces, a blackened steel chain, adds edge to a classic locket. Many of the jewels are inscribed with inspirational phrases. Her little Posey Rings, that are intended to pile up like charms on chain necklaces, have all kinds of moving messages like “Never Fear,” “Carpe Diem” and “I Just Adore You.”
Now, Monica has taken her personalization concept into the 21st century within her beautiful boutiques at The Shops at Columbus Circle in New York City and at the Westfield Century City shopping center in Los Angeles shown here. The crisp space that opened in October 2017 has the air or an artist’s studio with an inspiration board on the wall, glass and brass display cases on shelves at eye level and The Locket Bar where the magic happens.
The process behind the personalization begins after a client selects a locket. They can choose a photo from their phone, text it to the store’s sales associate on the spot, and it will be sized and fitted into the jewel immediately. The specialized service is complimentary.
Monica Rich Kosann lockets start around $215 for a small silver rendition to over $25,000 for an 6” 18K gold locket with spaces for 6 photos.
