Meghan Markle’s Cool Cartier Necklace
And giant diamond studs at the Invictus Games Opening Ceremony
April 18, 2022 (Updated April 20)—When Meghan Markle arrived with Prince Harry at the Invictus Games for a daytime Reception at the Hague, she wore a slightly oversized white Valentino suit and told her life story in jewels. For the evening Opening Ceremony on Saturday night, the Duchess of Sussex doubled down on her demonstration of a newly refined cool-girl style.
Meghan sported sleek black pants and an off-the shoulder cream body suit from the cult favorite New York based label Khaite. The actress paired the ensemble with a Cartier Juste un Clou necklace. Her jewel appears to be the yellow gold rendition accented with diamonds.
It’s a pretty dramatic jewelry choice for Meghan who often wears delicate designs. Granted she does have Cartier pieces in her collection, but nothing quite as statement as this necklace.
The jewel could be on loan from Cartier, but I didn’t get a press release about it. The jewel could also be a gift from Harry or someone else.
Meghan has a wardrobe of diamonds studs that includes styles from Birks and Cartier among others. The studs she has on for the Opening Ceremony are so giant, I thought they must be on loan. More specifically I thought they were on loan from Lorraine Schwartz who redesigned Meghan’s engagement ring.
Jewelry expert Hyla Bauer, reached out to me with another idea. She felt they were most likely Meghan’s own diamond studs from Lorraine that she had publicly debuted in their removable black jade jackets at the 2019 Lion King premiere in London. I believe Hyla is correct.
On her wrist, Meghan appears to be wearing her Cartier Love bracelet from Harry and a couple of diamond tennis bracelets. She has several in her collection.
Prince Harry gave Meghan Princess Diana’s diamond bracelet. Prince Charles gave Meghan a diamond tennis bracelet as a wedding present. And she has a delicate one from who knows where that she received (or bought for herself) who knows when.
In addition to her Lorraine Schwartz three-stone diamond engagement ring and Welsh gold wedding band, Meghan is wearing a statement ring on her right index finger. It appears to be a gold circle with a diamond pavé-set bar running through it. I am not familiar with the design or who made it, but I am intrigued.
