August 24, 2022—There is a new pace to celebrity news and I, for one, like it. Big stars have begun to roll out the information about their events s-l-o-w-l-y being sure to capture our attention and hold the news cycle for several days.
In the case of the engagement, wedding, honeymoon and second wedding of Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck you could actually say they have been holding our attention for months! (If you wanted to be academic you could say 20-years, but we are focusing on the events of 2022 alone.)
It all began back in April when Ben gave Jen the green diamond engagement ring. Then there was the surprising and charm-filled July nuptials at the Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas accompanied by images that were pretty much selfies. The same month the couple honeymooned in Paris and the paparazzi worked overtime to capture all of JLo’s fabulous travel ensembles. In the City of Lights, Ben kept the lavish jewelry coming with a pair of substantially-sized pink and green diamond earrings.
For the centerpiece of all the festivities on August 20—a lavish wedding ceremony and party with friends and family at their vacation home on the Hampton Island preserve outside of Savannah, Georgia—no pictures were officially released the day of the event. They were holding us in suspense. You just knew photos and details were coming. Mrs. Affleck has long shared her life with her fans and now she does so through her newsletter On the JLo.
Late yesterday afternoon, the Marry Me actor dropped a short newsletter with photos and sketches of her three custom made white wedding dresses by Ralph Lauren with the tantalizing note “I will be sharing a few more pics and delicious details on our big day coming very soon On The JLo…”
Late last night, publicists were clearly cut loose and allowed to release the news on the jewels Jennifer wore with the dresses. Get all the details below.
For the 45-minute riverside wedding ceremony presided over by Jay Shetty, Jennifer wore a cathedral length veil and elegant custom version of Ralph Lauren’s turtleneck column dress with more than 1,000 handkerchiefs and 500 meters of fabric.
She paired the gown with diamond and pearl jewelry from Mikimoto.
The classic white South Sea Cultured Pearl Earrings Jennifer wore for the wedding ceremony were set with over 2-carats of diamonds in platinum.
The jewels retail for $53,000 and could easily be considered the “something borrowed” element of her ensemble.
The bride coordinated her earrings with a white South Sea Cultured Pearl Floral Ring set with over 2-carats of diamonds in platinum.
The design costs $39,000 and was also borrowed for the event.
After the ceremony, Jennifer changed into two Ralph Lauren gowns. The most extraordinary one is covered in strings of “pearls” and Swarovski-crystals.
According to Vogue, “Thirty artisans worked to hand-embroider the chandelier-pearl gown with micro-pleats of silk tulle, pearl embellishments, and Swarovski crystal.” It appears the necklaces in the piece are part of the gown but it’s possible they could be another jewel.
For this jewelry dress, Jennifer kept on the Mikimoto ring she wore from the ceremony, but she changed her earrings into a pair of pearl and diamond studs.
The Performance Look Mikimoto studs are set with white South Sea Cultured Pearls and a total of 2-carats of diamonds in platinum.
JLo’s third Ralph Lauren dress was comparatively minimalist.
It had a mermaid silhouette and Swarovski crystal keyhole cutout at the neckline.
The bride paired the gown with diamond pendant earrings from Samer Halimeh New York.
Twenty-seven carats of fancy cut diamonds in pear and marquise shapes decorate the two-million-dollar designs.
