Serena Speaks Volumes with Jewels in Australia

The tennis champion picked a couple of choice words from her jewelry collection

February 17, 2021—Tennis champion Serena Williams has been charging through the draw in the Australian Open and advanced to the semifinals in full blown Serena style. In other words, her great play has been done in some original fashion and lots of jewelry.

Serena’s one-legged color block Nike catsuit was inspired by the looks of track star Florence Griffith Joyner. Flo Jo sported any number of one-legged looks during the 1984 and 1988 Olympics when she won several gold medals.

The 39-year-old tennis champion’s jewels come from her Serena Williams Jewelry Collection.

Her “Ma Ma” diamond studs have been noticed by the photographers at the Grand Slam event who have taken several closeup shots. “I really loved designing the ‘Ma Ma’ studs because ‘mother’ is my favorite title by far that I have earned,” explained Serena on her jewelry website.

In addition to the Mama Merch, Serena is wearing layered necklaces, another wildly popular trend. One is the adjustable gold and diamond Cuban Link Necklace. The other is a nameplate that reads “Queen.”

On her fingers Serena is wearing a pavé-set diamond ring. It’s most likely from her collection, but it doesn’t seem to be listed on the website.

A long-time ambassador for Audemars Piguet, Serena is wearing a striking Royal Oak watch from the label. I am not absolutely certain but the model looks like the Offshore Diver with a steel case and a rubber strap.

In the semifinals, Serena plays the great young tennis star Naomi Osaka. Win or lose, there is no disputing she is indeed the “Queen” of the tennis court. Many say the greatest athlete ever—male or female. I am no sports reporter, but I am certainly not going to disagree.
