Let Meghan Be Your Mother’s Day Jewelry Guide

The Duchess of Sussex is the Queen of Meaningful Jewels

by Marion Fasel

April 27, 2022—There are no rules about Mother’s Day gifts. It’s not like Valentine’s Day with a romance theme. A Mother’s Day gift can be anything. So how on earth do you decide what to do? Let Meghan Markle be your guide! The Duchess of Sussex is Queen of the meaningful and often times relatively affordable jewels. She demonstrated how well she is holding on to this title during her multiple appearances at the Invictus Games.

I covered Meghan’s arrival look in the white Valentino suit, $238 Catbird Kitten Mitten and Sophie Lis Love Pendant among other well-known pieces in her jewelry box here. Details of her evening Khaite ensemble for the Opening Ceremony including Lorraine Schwartz diamond studs and a Cartier Juste un Clou necklace can be found here.

Beyond those two moments, Meghan was dressed in jeans and jackets and personal jewels on the sidelines of sporting events. It was a casual, but polished look many moms consider a uniform, making them the perfect reference for jewelry ideas.

During day two of the Invictus Games, Meghan wore a white Brandon Maxwell jacket and debuted a pair of Sarah Hendler Pave Spear Tip Dangle Studs. The $1,900 earrings are set with sapphires representing her son Archie’s birthstone and emeralds which are Harry’s birthstone.

Meghan also wore her Starry Night Charm from the California label Child of Wild. The $40 pendant, composed of CZs and 14K gold filled metal, has a moon and star. Some believe it represents the star signs of both of Meghan and Harry’s children.

On the first day of the Invictus Games, Meghan sported a Celine jacket and ribbed white tank top with a 16-inch 24K gold plated sterling silver Pathways Herringbone Necklace from Child of Wild. The $112 jewel may not symbolize anything sentimental but the herringbone link, which is a throwback to 1980s gold styles, has become a favorite with millennials.

Meghan’s earrings are from her friend, tennis champion Serena Williams’s jewelry collection. The Duchess has worn the earrings before. At the moment they do not seem to be available but other designs can be found here.

The rings Meghan wears on her pinky and ring finger are the Duet Pinky Ring Set by Shiffon. They come in a range of prices from $310 to $1,710 based on the materials used in the design.

They are the sole creation from the label and have a purpose. According to the website:

At Shiffon, we have big dreams. Our mission is to fuel a movement for female entrepreneurs to receive equal access to startup capital through our pinky ring—because a world in which women succeed is a world in which everyone succeeds. (The numbers don’t lie!) 50% of profits from Shiffon’s Duet Pinky Ring go towards funding female entrepreneurs, with 11 companies funded to date.

You just know this is the kind of story your mother would love to support.
