There is big royal news today. Kate Middleton gave birth to her third child, a son who is fifth in line to the throne this morning, but I am here for the jewels Meghan Markle wore to Queen Elizabeth’s 92-birthday party on Saturday night. The soon-to-be royal looked absolutely regal in such a cool way for the concert at Royal Albert Hall.
Her sensational cape dress came from Stella McCartney who royal fashion watchers believe is the front runner to design the wedding dress and this moment certainly added some credance to that theory. Meghan wore the dark navy cocktail number with several gold vermeil pieces from British jewelry designer Shaune Leane. Her earrings are front to back silver and gold vermeil Talons. The price of the jewels is $315.
Meghan carried a cool acrylic Zodiac bag from Naeem Kahn with her sign, Leo. On her wrist she wore one of Leane’s Silver, Gold Vermeil and Diamond Signature Cuffs. It costs $1,395. There is a rendition without diamonds for about half the price. According to the description on the designer’s website “The Signature Tusk Suite reimagines the silhouette that lies at the very heart of the House’s heritage and DNA. In 1995, Shaun Leane, a close friend and collaborator of Alexander McQueen, designed the iconic Tusk earring for McQueen’s SS96 show, The Hunger.”
Meghan’s second bracelet from Leane is a new piece from his Serpent Trace collection. It is not scheduled to launch until May. The designer’s Serpent Trace hoop earrings in 18K rose gold (available on his website) show more detail of the style. Meghan also wore her ever present cool-girl Threadbare rings from the Brooklyn boutique Catbird. The jewels cost around $50 each. While I love the layered ring look, I am hoping those come off and an amazing tiara goes on for the royal wedding on May 19. My guess is that is exactly what will happen.
